The targeted fat cells undergo apoptosis (natural cell death) and are cleared by the body over 8–12 weeks. Surrounding skin, nerves, and muscle tissue are unaffected — the technology exploits the fact that fat cells are more vulnerable to cold than other tissue types.
The applicator draws the targeted tissue between two cooling panels and holds it at -11°C for 35–60 minutes. At this temperature, fat cell membranes crystallise and the cells undergo programmed death. Over the following weeks, the lymphatic system naturally clears the cellular debris, reducing the fat layer by 20–27% per cycle in the treated zone.
