Blepharoplasty to remove excess skin, fat, and muscle from upper or lower eyelids — refreshing the eye area and reducing a tired appearance.
Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) addresses excess skin, muscle, and fat that accumulate in the upper and/or lower eyelids with age. Upper blepharoplasty removes drooping skin that can impair the visual field. Lower blepharoplasty addresses under-eye bags, puffiness, and hollowness. The procedure is one of the most precise in plastic surgery — subtle changes make a dramatic difference, and surgical artistry is paramount.
Upper blepharoplasty: an incision is made within the upper eyelid crease. Excess skin (and sometimes underlying muscle and fat) is excised and the wound is closed with fine sutures — which are removed at 5–7 days. Lower blepharoplasty: a transconjunctival approach (internal incision, no external scar) removes or redistributes fat pockets. For skin excess, a subciliary incision just below the lower lashes is used.
Bruising and swelling for 7–14 days. Most clients are presentable at 10–14 days with makeup. Sutures removed at 5–7 days. No strenuous activity for 2 weeks. Final refined result at 3–6 months.
